Debug Reports & Privacy

Updated October 15, 2026

A debug report tells us which check TrueTo couldn’t run, in which app, and on which versions. It is not linked to your account, and TrueTo shows you what it holds before the first one is sent. It is used only to fix the check.

Debug reports are designed to protect your information and enable you to choose what you share.

When TrueTo can’t run one of its checks, it can offer to send us a debug report so we can fix the check. A report is sent when you tap “Send report” or “Try again”. The first time, before anything is sent, TrueTo shows you exactly what the report holds.

If you choose “Always send”, TrueTo sends a report without asking when you open a results screen that shows a check it couldn’t run, and at no other time. Nothing is sent in the background. “Always send” is off until you choose it, and you can turn it off at any time. To do so, go to Settings → Privacy and turn it off under “Failure reports”.

A debug report holds the following information:

  • The ID of the check TrueTo couldn’t run
  • The app it checks, and that app’s version
  • TrueTo’s version
  • The date, without a time of day
  • A random report ID

A report does not include screenshots, what is on your screen, logs, or what your settings are set to. It is not linked to your account: we do not receive your sign-in, name or email with it.

Reports are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connection to TrueTo’s service, used only to diagnose and fix the problem, and never shared with third parties.

When a check fails, TrueTo saves the on-screen accessibility layout of that screen on your phone, keeping the 100 most recent. If you are using TrueTo 6.1 or later, it is never sent.

If you are using a version of TrueTo earlier than 6.1, a report is sent only when you tap “Report Issue” on a failed check, give your consent on the sheet that opens, and tap “Send report”. That report holds:

  • The results of the scan it came from, including the setting values each check read and the values it expected
  • The device model and manufacturer, and the Android version
  • TrueTo’s version
  • Up to 500 lines of TrueTo’s own app log
  • The on-screen accessibility layout saved for that check

That report can contain personal content that was on your screen at the time. If you sent it while signed in, it is stored with your account ID. If you do not send one, none of this leaves your phone.

Applicable Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data

We process debug reports on the basis of your consent. You give it each time you send a report, or once, when you choose “Always send”, and you can withdraw it at any time by turning “Always send” off.

Retention

Debug reports are stored in Google Cloud Storage in the United States, with Google acting as our service provider. They are kept for 90 days and then automatically deleted. A report sent from a version of TrueTo earlier than 6.1 while you were signed in is stored with your account ID, and deleting your account does not remove it sooner.

At all times, information collected by TrueTo is treated in accordance with TrueTo’s Privacy Policy, which can be found at trueto.app/privacy.
