Brightness and color
Your phone and your apps decide how much light the screen gives off, and what color it is. They stack, and none of them replaces the others.
Dark mode
Android can turn every app that follows it dark, and YouTube, Chrome and WhatsApp each keep a theme setting apart from it. TrueTo sets each, light or dark.
Extra Dim
Android’s brightness slider stops at a floor, and Extra Dim takes the screen below it, with an intensity of its own. TrueTo sets Extra Dim on or off.
Night Light
Android can tint the whole screen warm, taking out its blue-white cast, over every app at once. TrueTo sets Night Light on or off.
Motion
Your phone and your apps move what’s on the screen and play video on their own.
Animations
Android slides each app in as you switch to it and fades each menu into view. TrueTo sets Remove animations on or off.
Video behind songs
Spotify plays a short looping video behind the song on the Now Playing screen, in the place of the album art. TrueTo sets Canvas on or off.
Autoplay
YouTube starts another video the moment the one you’re watching ends, and the next after that. TrueTo sets Autoplay on or off.

Why is there no single dark mode toggle for every app?
Android’s Dark theme is a default that each app may follow or not. YouTube, Chrome and WhatsApp keep theme settings of their own, and any of them can stay light while Android is dark. TrueTo goes into each app and sets them for you.
What’s the difference between Dark theme, Night Light, and Extra Dim?
Dark theme changes what’s drawn: dark backgrounds instead of white ones. Night Light changes the color of the light: warmer, less blue. Extra Dim changes how much light: it takes brightness below the slider’s floor.
The brightness slider is all the way down and the screen is still bright. Why?
The slider has a floor: phones keep a lowest brightness. Extra Dim is the setting below it, dimming the whole screen past the floor. TrueTo sets it for you, on or off.
Does TrueTo change these settings for me?
Yes. TrueTo goes into each app and changes the setting the way you would. Every one of them is reversible, one at a time, so Android can stay dark while YouTube stays light.
