Keeps similar songs playing, and it is the setting most autoplay searches land on. It is not the control for the video: it sits on the Playback screen, not on the screen that holds Canvas, so turning this one off leaves the video where it was. Nothing in TrueTo applies it for you, so this one is a flip you make yourself.

What most guides miss

Someone whose problem is the video and whose vocabulary is autoplay gets handed the similar-songs setting every time, and that is the one that leaves the video running.
The screen holding Canvas only reached everyone on 9 April 2026. Before that the setting sat under Playback, which is where the articles that still rank for this send people. Follow one and you arrive on the Playback screen, where a setting called Autoplay is waiting, and it is not the one that stops the video.
On the free tier, turning Canvas off does not cover ads. Spotify's own wording is that video ads cannot be turned off, and that Canvas visuals will still sometimes show with audio ads. So the setting can be off, correctly, while a video is on the screen.
Canvas is stored against the account rather than the handset. Turn it off on the phone and it is off wherever else you sign in, and whoever manages a family plan can set it for the members. YouTube's Autoplay runs the other way around: Google's wording is that you can have different Autoplay settings for different devices. An expectation carried over from one app is wrong in the other.
Spotify's own Data Saver suppresses Canvas, so the video does not show while that setting is on. Samsung's own OS-level Data Saver is a separate control, and it greys the Canvas toggle out inside Spotify, which makes the setting look broken when what disabled it is the phone.
